The 2020 FIA World Rally Championship at last gets in progress this end of the week with the conventional Rally Monte-Carlo, with a few drivers every single moving group over the winter.
Two of the three men engaged with the sensational tussle at the highest point of the standings a year ago have exchanged producers — protecting hero Ott Tänak lines up for Hyundai Motorsport after his move from Toyota GAZOO Racing, while six-time champ Sebastien Ogier moves over to the Japanese group after Citroen chose to pull back from the game and he joins his third unique group in four seasons.
Thierry Neuville remains with the Hyundai squad, albeit now faces an immense fight with Tänak and both should again be viewed as potential title victors going into the first of 13 adjusts tomorrow night. He and Tänak are joined this end of the week by nine-time champion Sebastien Loeb, who will again impart the third vehicle to Dani Sordo consistently.
13 drivers are entered in the new R5 class of WRC3 for privateers, with five Citroen C3 R5 vehicles of Yoann Bonato, Eric Camilli, Nicolas Ciamin, Yohan Rossel and Jose Maria Lopes. Three Hyundai i20 R5 vehicles with Stephana Sarrazin, Umberto Scandola and Andrea Nucita.
In the Škoda Fabia R5 vehicles there are Paulo Nobre, Grégoire Munster, Miguel Diaz-Aboitiz, Enrico Brazzoli and in a Ford Fiesta R5 there is just Massimo Pedretti entered.
Five drivers will begin in the new WRC2 class, where now the industrial facility group is seen, Mads Østberg drives for Citroën Racing which has just a single vehicle enter. For both Hyundai Motorsport and M-Sport Ford there will be two drivers each, at Hyundai you can see two newcomers of Russian driver Nikolay Gryazin and Norwegian Ole Christian Veiby which have marked agreements with the group. At M-Sport there will be Adrien Fourmaux and Rhys Yates driving for the group.
